NorthernNations Cooperative Group was created to help advance a national-scale Indigenous economic empowerment movement for Canada.
Developed through years of quiet engagement with Indigenous leaders, business partners, governments, advisors, and industry participants, NNC Group is being structured to support practical, investable, and commercially disciplined pathways for Indigenous participation in major sectors of the Canadian economy.
History
Founded on a simple recognition
NNC Group was founded on the recognition that Indigenous peoples require more than consultation, employment commitments, benefit agreements, and symbolic or late-stage participation in major projects. While these tools can be important, they are not enough.
For Indigenous peoples to participate fully in the economy of Canada, there must be credible and sustainable pathways to business formation at the outset, equity ownership, governance, capital participation, procurement, project development, infrastructure investment, and long-term wealth creation.
Over the past eight years, NNC Group has been developed quietly and deliberately through engagement with Indigenous, industry, government, financial, technical, and strategic partners. That work has informed the creation of an Indigenous-led cooperative platform capable of incubating and advancing major national business opportunities.

NNC Group’s vision is to help build an Indigenous economic house for Canada, one in which Indigenous peoples are active owners, builders, investors, employers, stewards, and leaders in the country’s most important economic sectors.
NNC Group seeks to support a future where Indigenous participation is no longer treated as an afterthought, a compliance exercise, or a symbolic gesture, but as a central feature of responsible Canadian economic development.

Through its enterprise development work, NNC Group identifies, structures, advances, and incubates major business opportunities before they are moved into dedicated subsidiaries, project companies, partnerships, or investment vehicles.
Aggregate Indigenous Participation
NNC Group is designed to help aggregate Indigenous participation across communities, Nations, entrepreneurs, and organizations, allowing Indigenous interests to participate in opportunities that may otherwise be too large, complex, or capital-intensive to pursue individually.
Partner With Industry, Government, and Capital
NNC Group seeks to work with private-sector companies, governments, institutional investors, lenders, technology providers, and strategic advisors to develop investable business models that deliver commercial returns and Indigenous economic outcomes.
The Indigenous economic ecosystem that NNC Group is building is only possible by leveraging the collective strength of its Lodgepoles. Each Lodgepole is intended to provide a focused platform for business development, Indigenous participation, partnership formation, capital attraction, and long-term ownership. Together, they create the structural framework for a larger Indigenous-led economic house for Canada.
